Reflections

"Feeling my way through the darkness
Guided by a beating heart
I can't tell where the journey will end
But I know where to start"

- Avicii

My wings are sore, but it’s a good kind of sore. I briefly forgot why I travel, originally planning this trip as a chance to get away from daily life, instead of a chance to grow, instead of a chance to learn, instead of a chance to open new eyes. Fortunately, before the plane’s wheels left the tarmac on Seattle’s international airport I was refocused on my true passion for travel, thanks to Kim and Riley. And I hope they too emerged from our journey with new lessons learned, new possibilities ahead, and new eyes with which to view the world. Southeast Asia does not just have a special place in my heart, but my heart belongs in Southeast Asia.

Everyone is trying to find themselves, whether they know it or not, but only the few that are starting to wake know they are lost. And so we will continue our journey, and continue to see the world. Kim and Riley, I’ll see you next summer break.
