Welcome

My last journey was in 2011, and after 10 years in Whistler I sold my vacation home in July of 2013, underestimating the escape it provided. It’s 2014 and I feel like a caged bird, I have food, water, shelter, and generally a good life, but I’m not free, doing the same thing day after day after day. I desperately need to spread my wings again…

Southeast Asia has always had a special place in my heart and I began focusing the on the two remaining countries I have yet to visit, Cambodia and Laos. And then I heard something I could not believe, to quote a great man “If I woke up tomorrow with my ear sown to the floor I would not have been more surprised.” – Clark W. Griswold. My sister Kim, who has not ventured far since our trip to Alaska, and even missed a Thanksgiving or two in Seattle, expressed interest in her and her son, Riley, tagging along on my trip. It was great news and I was happy to finally be able to share my interest and my style of travel with someone in my family. I decided to include Thailand in our route as well to balance the trip, giving me something new in Cambodia and Laos, and allowing me to revisit and share some of my old favorites with Kim and Riley in Thailand. I got copies of their passports and started booking things before they could Goggle how long and how many flights it would include. Then started stretching my wings and began counting down the days until I could fly again. [Begin The Return to Southeast Asia]
