One last walk around Luang Prabang

We had no plans for our last day in Laos. We woke up and sat on our patio to a now familiar sight. Crazy Caucasians, who we assumed to be on vacation, out for a morning jog in the thousand degree heat. I thought, I bet they are from the East Coast. We went to breakfast and being on vacation I ordered two servings of bacon and two servings of Luang Prabang sausage.

After breakfast we returned to our room to find our laundry ready and fully accounted for, which was good as I could not afford to be down another pair of underwear. However, I would be down one camera as my Canon Powershot was acting up yesterday and today would not power up. I still had my phone and video camera for still shots so we were good. Plus Canon has already replaced it free of charge as I type this, so you won’t have to read any rant on that. We then took one last walk around town.

There was no shortage of tuk tuk drivers wanting to take us to the Tad Sae waterfall or Pak Ou caves, both of which we already experienced.

We ate lunch at the 3 Nagas and had the best spring rolls we would ever have in our life. The food in Laos was blowing us away and I’m not sure why it has not made an impression in the U.S. We decided to return to Tangor for one more sausage. Along the way we saw some classic old cars that really seemed to fit in to this place.

Hey guy, want to race.

We stopped for another appetizer and it was just nice to relax overlooking the Mekong River today.

We then headed back to the hotel to pack and get ready for a travel day tomorrow.

It was another day of a lot of walking around, and Riley took it in stride, so I let him finish my beer. It’s OK, this is Southeast Asia and no one really cares, plus it’s a light beer so it’s mostly like drinking carbonated water, only safer.

Kim even let him try a little wine. It’s OK, this is Southeast Asia and no one really cares, but that’s wine so go easy.

We finished packing and then showered, which due to the heat was a twice daily ritual, then headed to the Mekong River to formally say goodbye to Laos as we would be flying out in the morning.
